Science teacher, Ms. Schacher, and four CHS students represented Cozad in the Women in Science Conference Friday and Saturday, March 31 & April 1, at UNL. They were 1 in 25 schools involved in two fun filled days on UNL campus. Friday they toured the Carson Center of Emerging Arts, explored the different Science departments, and ended the evening with a banquet and guest speakers. Saturday they participated in an Animal Science and Entomology workshop and ended their day by getting to do 3 labs in the UNL Biochemistry Lab Department. This was an excellent opportunity for the ladies to explore career and academic opportunities.
Women in Science is for students who want to interact with career and academic professional women in science, meet current undergraduate science students and other high school students who are interested in science, and discover countless professions as diverse as biologists, geologists, engineers, food scientists, computer scientists, and those in the medical fields.
CHS students that attended the conference were Lilianna Wylie, Makenzie Smock, Kaylee Revelo-Martinez, and Megan Dyer. Ms. Shavonne Schacher, Middle School Science teacher, attended the conference with these four students.
