Cozad High School is proud to announce that Luke Pinkelman, a 2007 graduate, will be inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame this Saturday, October 8th, at Lincoln East High School. This prestigious honor recognizes Luke's outstanding achievements in track and field during his high school career.
Luke Pinkelman made an indelible mark in Nebraska high school sports during his time at Cozad High School. His senior year was nothing short of remarkable, as he set a state meet record in the shot put and secured the all-class gold medal in the discus. These achievements capped off a remarkable high school career, during which Luke won three Class B shot put gold medals and two all-class discus gold medals.
After briefly attending Iowa State University, Luke returned to Nebraska to continue his athletic pursuits. He earned the distinguished title of All-American in both shot put and discus, further solidifying his legacy in the field of track and field. Notably, Luke was not limited to just track and field; he also showcased his talents as a football standout, earning the title of a two-time all-state pick for the Cozad Haymakers.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 8th, 2023, at Lincoln East High School. It promises to be a momentous occasion as Luke Pinkelman joins a select group of athletes, coaches, contributors, and officials in the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame.
