Cozad Community Schools is thrilled to announce the hiring of Mr. Justin Dowdy as the new Elementary Principal for the 2024-2025 school year. Mr. Dowdy brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to our school community.
With a strong background in education, Mr. Dowdy has demonstrated a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. His dedication to student success and his ability to collaborate with educators, parents, and community members make him an ideal fit for the role of Principal at Cozad Elementary.

Justin Dowdy has previously served as a 2nd grade teacher and varsity football coach at Gothenburg Schools. His proven track record of implementing effective educational strategies and fostering a positive school culture make him well-suited to lead Cozad Elementary to new heights.
Mr. Dowdy expressed his excitement about joining the Cozad community and Cozad Community Schools, stating, “My family and I are excited to join the Cozad community and Cozad Community Schools. Through the many years of competing against Cozad, I have found Cozad residents are proud and passionate about their town and their schools. They also truly care about their youth as seen through the many youth programs, amazing facilities, and more. I look forward to joining an amazing team of leaders at Cozad Elementary School.”
His family, including his wife, Jillian Dowdy, their two children, Jackson and Jamie, and their dog, Nitro, is actively involved in various activities. Jillian takes on multiple roles, working on the family's farm during the summer and fall, substitute teaching in the winter and spring, and serving as a varsity track coach. Jackson is a sports enthusiast who enjoys playing on his Xbox and assisting on the farm. Jamie, on the other hand, has a passion for volleyball and basketball, indulges in playing with her dolls, and cheers on her high school role models. As a family, they share a love for watching football and spending summer weekends at Johnson Lake.
