Boston Irish Signs with UNK to Continue Track & Field Career

Cozad High School senior Boston Irish took a major step toward his future today, signing his letter of intent to continue his education and track and field career at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). Boston, the 2024 All-Class State Champion in pole vault, will join the Lopers Track and Field team in the Fall of 2025.

Boston plans to major in criminal justice, with aspirations of becoming a game warden. He was particularly drawn to UNK's highly regarded Division II track and field program, saying, "UNK has one of the best D2 track programs, and I’m excited to be a part of it." He was also impressed with the state-of-the-art training facilities and the welcoming atmosphere on campus. Additionally, he looks forward to living in Kearney, noting its central Nebraska location as an ideal place to continue both his academic and athletic journey.

Boston was joined at his signing ceremony by his parents, Travis and Christie Irish, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Jercey and Spencer Pleschourt. His CHS track coaches, Head Coach Jacob Brummer and Pole Vault Coach Trey Botts, were also in attendance to celebrate his achievement. A large group of friends and teammates gathered to support and congratulate him on this exciting milestone.

Congratulations to Boston Irish on his commitment to UNK! The Haymaker community is proud of his accomplishments and can’t wait to see him soar at the next level. #HaymakerWay
