The CEEC (Cozad Early Education Center) hosted a music program followed by a family fun night on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Taking a moment to pose with Santa (aka Dr. Pat Wetovick) were CEEC teachers Megan Wetovick, Jacque Yocom, and Tricia Regelin, and the cutest little elf ever, Whitney Regelin. (Photo by Mel Nutt)

Six Culinary I students received their ServSafe Certification this week from UNL Extension Educator Brenda Aufdenkamp. The students worked their way through the ten chapters of the ServSafe Manager book and then received extensive training at the Dawson County Extension Office on Oct. 23. Attendees then completed a 90-question test, with these six students from Cozad High School passing the comprehensive exam. Their certification is good for five years. Congratulations to Luke Pinkelman who was recognized this evening at the Cozad vs. Kearney Catholic Hall of Fame game as a 2023 Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame inductee! Luke is a 2007 Cozad High School graduate.
A legend in Nebraska sports, Luke excelled in football and track, earning 5 Class B and 3 all-class gold medals in track. He set a state-meet shot put record of 63’7½” that stood for 16 years! On the football field, he started all four years and was named All-State as a sophomore—a rare and incredible honor.
Luke continued his success at Iowa State and the University of Nebraska, earning 3 All-American honors and multiple Big 12 and Big 10 championships.
This evening, Luke was presented with his Hall of Fame Inductee plaque by CHS Activities Director, Jeremy Yilk, and in a gracious act, he gifted it to Cozad High School to display proudly. Join us in celebrating this incredible athlete and his lasting impact on Cozad and Nebraska sports history!

We are so grateful for the donation of two beautiful benches that have been placed outside our District Entryway. Today, the Teammates Board members officially presented the benches to Mr. Corey Fisher, High School Principal, and Mr. Brian Regelin, Middle School Principal. This generous contribution was made possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Teammates Board members and coordinators, including Jennifer Walls, Lindsay Wells, Sammy Higgins, Shari Rosno, Pam Reicks, Eric Zimbelman, Bill Shaffer, Amber Ross (Elementary Building Coordinator), and Marcie Kostrunek (Program Coordinator).
Thank you, Teammates, for your continued commitment to enhancing our district and supporting our schools!

Congratulations to the Cozad National Honor Society! The NHS hosted a hugely successful food drive, and today all donations were weighed and delivered to the Cozad Food Pantry. They turned this into a fun and spirited competition between high school classes, and the results are in!

Best of luck today to our CMS Wrestlers as they travel to Kearney to compete at Kearney Sunrise. Wrestling begins at 4:30 pm. Go Haymakers!

We are thrilled to celebrate a milestone for Cozad Community Schools! In March 2022, our community came together to pass a bond to renovate and expand our elementary and high school, including adding safe entrances to all buildings. Now, 2 ½ years later, the transformation is almost complete, and we are excited to invite everyone to an Open House Celebration on Sunday, December 8th, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
The event will begin in the high school’s new gymnasium with a special ceremony, followed by guided tours of the updated facilities. This is our chance to thank the incredible Cozad community for supporting our schools and making education a priority for our students.
Thank you, Cozad, for making this possible. Together, we are creating a brighter future the #HaymakerWay!
